Serve Saturday Coordinator


Summary

The Serve Saturday Coordinator is a volunteer leader responsible for planning, organizing, and promoting quarterly “Serve Saturday” outreach projects for the church. These service opportunities are typically coordinated in partnership with missionaries connected to IBC and are designed to engage the congregation in meaningful, hands-on ministry.

This position reports directly to the Associate Pastor.

Requirements

1. Project Planning & Coordination

  • Plan and organize quarterly Serve Saturday events in collaboration with missionaries and ministry leaders.

  • Identify appropriate service projects that align with the church’s mission and community needs.

  • Coordinate logistics including location, materials, schedule, and volunteer roles.

  • Ensure all projects are well-structured and effectively executed.

2. Missionary Collaboration

  • Act as the primary liaison between the church and participating missionaries.

  • Gather project details, needs, and goals from missionaries.

  • Support missionaries in presenting their ministry opportunities to the church.

3. Volunteer Recruitment

  • Actively recruit volunteers for each Serve Saturday event.

  • Communicate the purpose and impact of each project to encourage participation.

  • Build and maintain a team of dependable volunteers.

4. Promotion & Communication

  • Work with church leadership and media/communications teams to promote events.

  • Create clear and engaging announcements through various channels (services, social media, email, etc.).

  • Ensure timely communication of event details to volunteers and the congregation.

5. Event Execution & Follow-Up

  • Oversee Serve Saturday activities on the day of the event.

  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to volunteers.

  • Evaluate each event and gather feedback for future improvement.

  • Share testimonies and outcomes with the church to celebrate impact.

  • Strong organizational and planning abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven ability to recruit and motivate volunteers.

  • Strong promotion and outreach skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with church leadership, missionaries, and teams.

  • A heart for service, missions, and community outreach.

  • Must be an official member of IBC, have consistent participation in church life and alignment with church values.


Time Commitment

  • Ongoing coordination throughout the year but typically 1 year of service.

  • Increased involvement leading up to quarterly Serve Saturdays.

  • Attendance required at each Serve Saturday event and occasional planning meetings.


Reporting Relationship

  • Reports directly to the Associate Pastor.
