Pastor Paul Dreessen: Pastor Paul was born
in Mombasa, Kenya (East Africa), as the son of
missionary parents. His family returned to their
home state of Oklahoma when Paul was 6 years
old. Paul became a Christian shortly after returning
to the states. He graduated from Guthrie High
School where he was involved in athletics and
various ministries through his local church. He
attended Wayland Baptist University on a track and
field scholarship. While at Wayland, Paul felt called
to vocational ministry and missions.He also met his
wife Dina at Wayland and they married in 1988.
After graduation from Wayland with a B.A. in History, he and Dina moved to New
Orleans where Paul attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He
served as an Associate Pastor for an inner city church. He completed his Masters
of Divinity degree in 1992.
In May 1992, Paul and Dina moved to Houston, Texas, where they served and
ministered at White Oak Baptist Church for the next 10 years. Paul served as Youth
Minister, Associate Pastor, and then Senior Pastor. He and Dina were blessed
with a daughter, Denae Grace, in January 1993.
In 2002, Pastor Paul became pastor of International Baptist Church in San Jose,
Costa Rica. The Dreessen family enjoy living in Costa Rica. Paul is passionate
about reaching the English-speaking population for Christ and loves serving in
such a diverse congregation.
Costa Rica is also a great place for him to pursue his love for athletics and the
outdoors. These include running, basketball, soccer, fishing, and golf. In addition,
he is an avid reader and is working at becoming fluent in Spanish.
