It is within a Sunday school setting where our church tries to educate our members in how to study and apply Biblical teaching. The Adult Sunday School Teacher is responsible for helping our congregation not only grow in their knowledge of Holy Scripture but also serve as a guide in how they can apply what they learn to every day life.
Adequately prepare and deliver the preassigned curriculum for the day. You can learn more about the curriculum we use at IBC here.
Teach 2 times a month during the 9 a.m or 10:30 a.m service. On occasion, there may be times when teaching 3 times a month is needed.
Recruit people to participate in your class.
Facilitate classroom discussion.
Set a Christ like example for others to follow.
Attend both Sunday Class and Sunday Worship Services on a regular basis.
Attend occasional teacher meetings held throughout the year.
Qualifications and/or Requirements needed to Serve
Must be a church member after going through the "New Member's Class. (See document below).
Must have the gift of teaching (Please see a spiritual gift test by clicking here or here.)
Must be punctual and reliable.
Previous Sunday school or teaching experience preferred but not required.
Commitment to at least 1 semester (January-June or July-December) of service.
Basic computer skills.
Needs to attend Sunday School training. This consists of attending Sunday School classes for several weeks and evaluating various teaching methods and environments in our current classes. It also means the teacher has been instructed in the mission and vision of IBC and the role our Sunday School/Adult Bible play in fulfilling that mission.
