Emmanuel, God with us. This is a familiar phrase during the Christmas season. Yet we sometimes forget how radical of an idea it was and how it is still a concept that is hard for us to grasp today. In this two part Christmas series we will try to better understand what the incarnation means and learn how the "God With Us" can apply to our lives today.
Welcome Daniel and Sarah Barrett from Horizon Church Jaco Daniel studied at Tennessee Temple University and Columbia International University where he received degrees in Biblical Studies and Youth Ministry. He served as a youth pastor and worship leader in Lexington, South Carolina for 12 years prior to moving to Jacó, Costa Rica in 2009. As a missionary in Jacó, he has assisted churches in the area with a variety of different ministries before planting Horizon Church Jacó in January of 2013. Horizon Church is an English-speaking church that is passionate about reaching people with the good news of Jesus Christ. The church has quickly grown to over 100 members and, in conjunction with Radical Life Ministries, is currently constructing a new sanctuary that seats over 350 people. Welcome Lyle and Stacey Watson from Tamarindo Church Lyle and Stacey Watson have been doing ministry in Costa Rica for 9 years, and last year sensed God's call to plant an English-speaking church in their home town of Tamarindo. They launched Tamarindo Church in January of this year and have had a great start. They have two children; Olivia who is 7 and Wolfie who is 6. Lyle has served on staff with Young Life for 5 years. He attended Seminary at Princeton Theological Seminary and was the Associate Pastor and then Pastor at Beach Community Church, Brasilito for 5 years.
The gospel writer Luke wrote with the mind of a historian and the heart of a physician. He examined and researched carefully the story of Jesus’ birth, ministry, death and resurrection. He told this story as a gentile and wanted to make it clear that the story of Jesus was for everyone. As the angel announced of Christ’s birth, “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all people.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

In this series we will get to know the individuals and families God used to birth His redemptive plan. We will learn how a perfect and holy God established His relationship with man at his best - and at his weakest and worst. And we will learn how our relationship with God will grew if we are willing to take a journey of faith.
